Getting to know Anita

Several people have asked me why I chose After the Commercial to be the title of my blog. It’s simply because I like to think that some very important stories on the news don’t ever find their way into the headlines. Horror sells. The stories that make us feel good get pushed to the end of the program, “when we come back after the break.”

As for me, I’m definitely in the afterthecommercial zone. One of these days I’ll have something really important to say about myself. You’ll recognize that by the BOLD CAP print and the sparkling confetti. Until then, all I can say is that I am a 70-plus-year-old female from Long Beach, California whose life is so unruffled that there is almost nothing to write about. At least, not in headlines.

“Where’s the conflict? How can you have a story with no conflict?” Sorry, folks, that’s just the way it is.

It took a real effort for me to start the blog; I’m basically a very shy person. Since I took the great step, though, it’s been a lot of fun for me. I hope you’ll find some fun in it too.

I’m the shorter one

  1. This is one of the best About pages I have read in a long time. I get nervous when I see the screamy headlines too, and I prefer to get to the real meat behind the stories.

  2. Sometimes we just immediately connect. I have this feeling I will love your blog so I’m following you!
